I want to thank the Bayshore members for donating so many milk bags to help us make mats for people experiencing homelessness; it is very much appreciated.   I have about 4,000 bags now (between Bayshore, Primetime, and the Wasaga Beach people dropping off at Baker’s Bench). I was under the impression it only took about 400 bags to make a mat, but I was told the other day by our master crocheter (and I confirmed with research) that it indeed takes approximately 800 bags to make one adult-size mat….. so please keep the bags coming.

The one thing I would ask is that you do not CUT THE BAGS. I have received quite a few bags that have been cut up the sides, and unfortunately, I have to throw them out as they can’t be used. What I do to dry my milk bags is just open them and put them over a glass or vase to allow them to dry—unless milk has leaked inside, in which case I wash the bag.

Once again, thank you so much for dropping your milk bags off at the club. We’re hoping to be able to provide several people with mats this fall to help them stay dry and, therefore, just a little warmer.
