Conveners – Advise Start Up Date for Activity

This message is going out to you to ask when you want to start up your activity. I have some members very anxious to get started, and others who would like to wait.

Please provide me with your start-up dates by Friday February 4th, and I’ll advise membership when each activity will start.

Marilyn you do not need to get cookies. I just want members to know they are able to start having coffee again when you are ready.  There will be members who come to your activity and won’t want to stay for coffee or tea.

Christine and Kevin we are waiting on the ruling whether the four (4) players would be allowed to take their mask off while playing. Once they finish their game, the mask goes back on.

If you have any other questions about start up let me know, and I will address them as quickly as possible.

Thank you
Lorri

STRAIGHT TALK

Another branch of “Our Health” is called “Straight Talk”.  Coming Soon: February sometime. Will advise as soon as we know.

The cost of home ownership keeps increasing. Wages for many have not kept pace. Many working families can often not afford adequate housing. The housing and homelessness crisis in Ontario is serious and widespread, cutting across all corners of the province and hitting everyone from the middle class to our most vulnerable residents. At its core, it reflects a shortage of affordable housing supply right across Ontario.

Finding an affordable home is often exacerbated by insufficient household income. Midland has a high proportion of low-income households at 8.1%, much higher than the County of Simcoe average of 5.3%.   Low income is the most common factor identified by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) in determining households in core housing need. Coupled with the high and rising cost of housing, it leads to a situation where far too many residents cannot afford decent housing.

Both the provincial and federal governments have taken action. Ontario’s release of the Community Housing Renewal Strategy and the Housing Supply Action Plan, and the federal government’s National Housing Strategy are intended to address the problem. But is this enough?

Let us know If this is something you would like to hear more about by voting. We will offering the telecast at Bay Shore Seniors’ Club.

Yes! We are opening Monday, February 7th, 2022

I am so pleased with the positive response from you, our Members, and that you are anxious to get back to your Club. I have spoken to our representative at the Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit and she has advised that we can open at 50% capacity. Not only that, BUT – we can serve coffee, tea and cookies.

WE MUST WEAR OUR MASK AT ALL TIMES! EVEN IF YOU CAN BE 6 FEET APART – THE MASK MUST BE WORN!

Did I hear you ask how can we have our coffee and cookies if we are wearing a mask? Just like in the restaurants, as long as you are seated you can remove them. If you get up and walk around – mask must be put back on. If you are uncomfortable sitting without your mask, then skip the coffee, but come in and enjoy your activity. Hopefully, this might change when the next set of restrictions have been lifted on the 21st of February.

I’m looking forward to seeing all of you back out enjoying our activities.

Alphee Comeau’s passing Friday, January 28th, 2022

It is with a very sad heart that I inform you of Alphee Comeau’s passing Friday, January 28, 2022, in his 74th year. Alphee was in the hospital in an induced coma since January 2nd.  When they took him off the respirator last Friday, he passed. We at Bayshore, and your friends Darlyne send you our condolences and prayers that you will get through this sad time with the strength from your boys by your side, and your friends.

ARE WE READY TO OPEN

Are we ready to Open? If Simcoe Muskoka Health Unit says we are able to open at 50% capacity – are you ready to come back to your Club? Please vote where indicated below – yes or no.

DON’T DRINK the Water at BAY SHORE

DON’T DRINK THE WATER
AT BAY SHORE SENIORS
NEXT WEEK

You can use the toilets, flush, and wash your hands – just DON’T DRINK the Water!

The iron distractor has ruptured and the iron crystals have gotten into the water. The water softener, and infrared light has been destroyed.  Bill Brown and Water Depot got most of it out of the system.

However, to be safe;  please DON’T make coffee, tea or drink from the tap. That shouldn’t be a problem as we haven’t been using the water for that purpose due to CoVID restrictions.

Sue Dawson did a water test last week and the water was good. Unfortunately, we can’t put bandages on the water anymore. The whole system needs replacing.

Therefore, the CLUB will be CLOSED FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 19th, 2021 all day to complete the job, and get us back up and running.

Thank you for your understanding.
