Congratulations, Lynn; you did a tremendous job creating a great event. The centrepieces were very creative and adorable, Santas. You and your committee, Karen and Don Whitfield, Sue Millington, Helen and Greg Manion, Jean and Larry Steinhaus, Lina Bertucci, Lorri Watson, and Bill Brown, did a great job setting up and assisting in the event running smoothly. Peggy Hawthorn and Mary Bernardino did Share the Wealth, and Sharon and Greig Stewart were our greeters. And, of course, a big thank you to our bartenders: Norm McLaughlin, Sandy McLoughlin and Kim Keffer. Marilyn Lester, Sandy Baker, Bill Brown, Mary Hickey, and her husband, along with others, helped clean up. This is why the event was so successful, because of you, our volunteers. Thank you, and congratulations!
Santa (Norm McLaughlin) and his helpful Elf (Greg Manion) greeted our members with a Christmas picture with Santa. We will let you know when the photos have been uploaded to the Website. They should be great.
We have learned a lot, and our events are improving, from the Corn Roast to the Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon to our Christmas Lunch. We have heard from several members how much they enjoyed themselves, and the turkey dinner with all the fixings was deliciously prepared by Nica and Chef Rick.
Our trifle challenge was a lot of fun. Greg Manion, Marily Lester and Lorri Watson were our taste testers. It was a tough decision; all the trifles were so delicious. However, we had to pick one. Two judges decided Trifle #3, so Sandy Baker won out of eight contestants. She won $25.00 cash and a badge made by the wood carvers that gave her bragging rights. Congratulations Sandy! Thank you to all our members who participated.
We found entertainment that our members enjoyed listening to Adrien Robitaille. He was a great musician, singer, and entertainer. A part of our luncheon was relaxing and listening to his music. And it was. With the ambience of the fireplace burning in the background, it felt like a friend’s Christmas lunch.
Marilyn Lester, Sandy Baker and Lorri Watson went into the Club Friday afternoon and spent some hours preparing the kitchen for our health inspection on Tuesday. The cleaners did a tremendous job cleaning the kitchen for another couple of hours. We are prepared. Thank you!
Thank you to Lynn and her elves Cindy Crane, Karen and Don Whitfield, Cheryl Uprichard, Sue Millington and Lina Bertucci for decorating the club to “look a lot like Christmas. It looks great!
Thank you; it was an excellent way to close down for the holidays with our friends from Bay Shore.
Merry Christmas and all the best in health, safety and happiness in 2024.
Cheers, Lorri
